Cycling for a Cause
On the 25th of July, a group of companies from Network 4 Business, accompanied by a number of other businesses (and cycling enthusiasts alike) met for a networking event and charity bike ride. The event consisted of a networking meeting, sharing healthy food and drinks; and of course the bike ride. The event was arranged and hosted by Network 4 Business members TrueMSP.
The event was in support of the charity Alex’s Wish. This is an incredible charity that was set up by Emma and Andy Hallam after their son Alex was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is an aggressive form of Muscular Dystrophy that affects 1 in every 3,500 boys born. There is no cure for this disease. It leads to complete paralysis by late teens and most boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy only live into their mid-twenties. The charity funds clinical research problems into treatments for this disease. Which helps improve the quality of life for affected children and could eventually lead to a cure being developed for this disease.
The evening started with a networking meeting where the companies who had chosen to attend the event could discuss what they do and form valuable connections between companies, in a meeting style setting. We hope to see great things come from this meeting in the near future.
Once everyone had finished talking about their businesses, there was food and drink put on for all attendees. The food had a clear focus on health and fitness, it included lots of slow-release carbohydrates and protein, perfect for giving all the cyclists much needed energy for the bike ride ahead.
In total around 15 people took part in the bike ride which ,started from TrueMSP car park, lasted around two hours and covered around 30 miles!
The entire event amazingly raised just under £200 for this incredibly deserving charity.
Well done and thank you to everyone who got involved.
